How do i quiet the sound of my amp when recording in Protools?

I use a VOX amp to record with protools, and the amp has to be somewhat loud to get my SM57 mic to pick up the sound. And sometimes i wanna record at night, but i cant because the amp is too loud. i was wondering if theres any way to quiet the sound of my amp, but keep it at the same volume. Like could i surround the amp with acoustic foam, or put a box over it with foam or what? I just wanna know how i can get the sound still loud by surrounding the amp or something so it doesnt seem too loud.
