We arent dating yet (ill ask soon) so would it be ok for her to refer me as a friend to others?

i notice that she still talks to her ex (relationship 4 years but he cheated on her so they ended things but remain close friends on aim) but live in separate states and she asked him if he wanted to meet me on webcam... she referred me as her friend.. she didnt really tell me this. my friend told me who was sitting on same side with her at table. lol .
