Want todo M.Tech in VLSI design & embedded electronic.Which electronic branch should i take commun or instrum?

Well I have two options for B.tech electronic & communication and electronic & instrumentation.My ultimate aim is M.tech in VLSI design & embedded electronics. Is VLSI design & embedded electronics accessible by both the branches or is it allowed only with electronic & instrumentation not the other one or vice versa. Need answer urgently.
