Tampon uncomfortable?

i am using my second tampon today and it's uncomfortable unlesst i'm laying down or sitting a certain way. The first one was ok I guess but I can't seem to get the tampon to go up any further without it hurting! I've tried aiming at the small of my back. Plus, this is a slim tampon for a light flow! (my flow is sorta heavy) should I change it again? Thanks
