What kind of monitor should I get?

I have a 11" MacBook Air. I am looking to get a monitor for $300 AT MOST! Anyway, I aim to be doing Java/C++/iPhone programming, maybe some CSS, and some casual use (Web browsing, Hulu videos). I would like to mount this at the foot of my bed, so at a 5 foot viewing distance. A webcam on it would be awesome too. So, what should I get, or at least what specs? (Size, resolution etc.) If there is a website where I could search monitors based on the specs I want, please put it in your answer. Thanks!
